A 12-location medical group builds a HIPAA security program in 90 days
A growing multi-specialty group had never completed a HIPAA security risk analysis. CloudSprint delivered the assessment, closed the critical gaps, and now runs the program year round.
Sample case study. Details are representative and will be replaced with a real engagement.
The challenge
The group had grown from three clinics to twelve in five years. Each acquisition brought its own network, its own devices, and its own habits. Leadership knew HIPAA required an annual security risk analysis. Nobody had done one.
Cyber insurance renewal forced the issue. The carrier required proof of multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection, and tested backups within 60 days.
What CloudSprint did
Weeks 1 to 3: Assess. We ran a security risk analysis mapped to the HIPAA Security Rule and NIST CSF across all twelve sites. The findings were ranked by risk to patient data, not by count.
Weeks 3 to 8: Remediate. MFA rolled out to every user through Microsoft Entra ID with conditional access. Endpoint detection went onto every workstation and server. Guest Wi-Fi and medical devices moved to their own segments. Backups were rebuilt and a full EHR restore was tested.
Weeks 8 to 12: Prove. We wrote the policies the group was missing, trained the workforce, ran a phishing simulation, and assembled the evidence binder for insurers and auditors.
The result
The insurance carrier renewed at a lower premium. A follow-up assessment found no critical items. The group moved its whole environment under a CloudSprint managed IT and security agreement so the program stays current instead of becoming next year’s binder.
“We knew we had gaps. What we did not have was anyone who could tell us which ones mattered and then actually fix them. CloudSprint did both.”
